Designed as a series of pavilions that circumnavigate a central garden atrium, the architecture allows the garden to flood in from every side, binding the various levels and setting the tone for sanctuary that the owner so longed for.
Working closely with the architect-owner of this private Johannesburg property, we were able to blur the line between indoors and outdoors. Existing trees were retained wherever possible and the fabric of pavilions weaved courtyards into the ground level and terraces up in the canopies.
Every plane, every surface, every view, and every interface was carefully considered and detailed to allow nature to exist within in, flow through and encompass the home.
